Inspiring, encouraging, entertaining and community building.
I want to say that I love the Kinjaz PodKast. I have been a fan of the Kinjaz since ABDC Season 3 (I voted for yall to win). Ever since I saw the first episode, I was hooked on your group. Since then, I have tried my best to follow your journey, so I was stoked to have found out that you have a podcast. I am not a dancer, I am not Asian, and I don’t live in California. Nonetheless, I have found hope, encouragement, entertainment, comfort and honestly a since of community by following your activities and especially listening to this podcast. It was even more surprising for me to find out that the dancers, movers, and artist that I have loved for years have a connection to you as well (Keone and Mari Madrid, Sean Lew, Jabbawockeez, BTS, D-Trix and the quest crew fam, etc). This Podkast has been one of my biggest influences and impacts the past couple of years. It has taught me many life lessons. I look forward to what you guys will continue to do in the future.

    Insightful and Entertaining
Ben and Ant complement each other well as hosts but what I love most about this pod is that the hosts let the guests talk freely and let the conversation wander wherever it may go. The topics are sometimes on the heavier side but it’s refreshing to hear grown adults having real, authentic conversations about real life. The hosts and the guests are equally insightful and entertaining. I found this pod late in season 1 and it quickly became a favorite. Keep up the great work guys!

Power in confiding in your tribe
This was my first Kinjaz podcast so I was not sure what to expect but I was so impressed with the flow of the show! I felt a real authenticity between Anthony and Jackson and the conversations they were having. The questions flowed smoothly and the time flew by. Thank you for inviting Jackson and providing this unique listening experience for us.

    Impactful conversations
As a nondancer located halfway across the world I am proof that this podcast transcends the dance community or any kind of immediate or extended network these guys have. Sure, I found it through following The Kinjaz but I was only a couple of episodes in when I realized this podcast isn't just about dance. This is about people sharing life experiences, passions, aspirations and lessons learned with other people through the art of simple conversation. I'm not giving these 5 stars because the hosts tell me to in each episode or because I know these guys personally or because The Kinjaz are cool. These stars are fully earned on account of: 1) The guests are made comfortable and effectively less guarded resulting in high quality, open, often funny and even touching exchanges. Bam Martin telling the story of the birth of his son checks all of those boxes. 2) You learn things. I grabbed a notebook during the first episode and have since been writing down things to check out, nuggets of wisdom shared by both hosts and guests and any reflections I have during or after each episode. I definitely filled some pages while listening to the Roy Choi, Ryan Higa, Lex Ishimoto and Jaeson Ma episodes. 3) Obviously guests are picked from personal and professional circles and mainly rooted in dance, but there's still variety in terms of industries and backgrounds. Everyone is so humble, articulate and inspiring though that variety doesn't really matter. They could simply keep rotating Kinjaz members and it would be fine by me. 4) The hosts supplement each other well and understand the spotlight isn't theirs. Mike and Charlie both bring great energy, humor and are clearly having a swell time, whenever they're on. Ben as the main host excels in giving the guests room to think about their answers and not rushing the conversation. I'm certain he's been told multiple times by now, that he found an extra calling here and with good reason. The way he calmly reflects on the guest at the beginning of each episode and then basically hands them a quick summary of why they are a great human being as his closing comment is such a different, positive vibe. It's his Ben Kenobi (obvious wordplay excluded) moments and I keep waiting for that one guest to unconsciously respond with a "yes, Obi-Wan". Even rather controversial opinions offered by some guests are handled with skilful diplomacy because not everything has to be about confrontation and heated discussion. These guys are doing good things with this podcast and hopefully they'll want to keep at it. The effort and time put into it is very appreciated. This review is already way too long for the internet in this age of scrolling, so I'll save my wishes for future guests for another channel and time. Highly recommeded.

    You guys always amazing
Don’t normally write reviews. Listening 1hr to 58mins. Doesn’t feel like it. Every time I’m listening to you guys. It feels way too short. Hope to have Phil Garvin aka Black Smith to be the podcast.

    Still Here
Over 70 speakers, 60 episodes, changes in lineup, and one year later: you guys are STILL here. Handclaps and snaps around gentlemen because this is incredible. I knew you had something with that first episode. To the critics who critiqued the sound: they fixed it, got better equipment, learned how to use it, and provided supreme sound. To the people who wanted different speakers: they brought speakers outside of the dance community, talked about issues that relate to life, growth, and how to fight for your dream. You guys have taken the critiques, the notes, the praises, and actually listened. You've created a community among those of us who tune in every week to listen. You gave me a home, revitalized an ember I thought I had snuffed out. Last year, I was done with trying. I didn't even know how to pray or who to ask for help. This podkast came into my life at a critical point where I didn't know which direction to go. I was worse than stagnant: I had chosen to stop and not even breathe. The faith, the lives, the stories of the people you brought on the show pushed me to confront myself, my passions, and my dreams. I relisten to episodes from Vihn, Chris Denison, Minji Chang, and so many others. My journals and my planners are filled with nuggets from the interviews and the shownotes. I know you don't know me from Eve, but this podkast has been my beacon, my lighthouse until I could find my way again. I get to really enjoy the speakers this year because I'm not tearing every episode (no lie for a minute there, I thought I was gonna have to stop listening or ask Jesus to talk through something else). I talk about this podkast to any and everyone who will listen. Can we point out: that while these guys have not missed an episode and barely missed a week, they've been traveling, teaching, creating Arenas (if you haven't been yet, go!! not kidding, it's straight fire), living their own lives, and STILL manage to put out superior content without making excuses. I can hear the difference between the first episode and episode 62. I don't know where you guys find these speakers but they are all incredible and invaluable. A year in and not stopping or slowing down anytime soon. You guys have made this podkast accessible to any and everyone and to that I say: Thank you. I stand by everything I said in my first review (Jinx 1.5). I will forever support. I am so excited to see what the next year brings for all of you. Ladies and Gentlemen: The Kinjaz (read as kings) are STILL here and here to stay. (You are correct that Jinx is a pokemon, Jinx was also Halle Berry's character in James Bond Die Another Day :))

    A1 since Day 1
Been an avid listener since the first ep. I’m hooked and look forward to it every week. It’s provided insight into dance community, dance industry, and life lessons that go beyond dance. I especially appreciate the latest ep ft. Sorah. It was extremely refreshing to hear that it’s ok/normal to have uncertainty pertaining to one’s future no matter what age and to go with the flow versus knowing your 1/3/5/10 year goal. Would love another ep with just the “tripod/try-pawd” (lol) to get to know you all deeper. Would also love another ep of Keone & Mari, but separately since they’re so dope individually as well.

    Interview the interviewer
It would be nice if someone else can ask the questions and have Ben answer them. I hear some clips and moments of his own story in the interview process, but it would be interesting to know what his own personal experience of his journey was like. He’s so great at articulating his thoughts that I’m sure it would be a fun one!

Dance has stories and we should listen
Nowadays, we can watch so much dance but not really understand where it came from or the stories that are in urban/hip hop dance. This is a really good look into a real urban/hip hop dance community with a variety of talents and backgrounds as well as different paths that share some stuff that matters about dance and the dance community and where dance is headed. I personally am not a dancer, I’ve never even met these people, but I was so hooked on what they created, which if you haven’t seen Kinjaz or their guests content, highly recommend. Now we get to hear their stories, what inspired them, understand their art, hard-work, and creativity. Even just being another millennial who can so easily watch dances or dance moves be shared and redistributed, it is really nice to get the heart and soul through something you have to sit down and listen to. I genuinely mean it.

    Fun and Inspirational
Love this podcast. Just feels like I'm chilling with my friends as we meet someone new and get to learn about their life. Sort of like those random deep convos you have with your bros after a few too many drinks. I mean that in all the best ways

Inspiration/ knowledge for a new generation
The Kinjaz have inspired me on so many levels. The best part of the Kinjaz podkast is getting an inside perspective of what dance WAS like and how it’s evolved. I’ve been a dance geek for ages now and I love the knowledge and experience you guys share for a new gen. The real life dance Avengers continue to lead and inspire across the globe. Living legends in the game! Thank you for the inspiration. Kinja Bang!

    OGs?
So dope! I found gems from a lot of different people. I would love it if you could interview OGs in the LA scene like Boppin Andre, Flattop, Wiggles, etc. Their stories definitely need to be heard.

    Constructive feedback
Love love love that y'all are putting out good vibes consistently fellas! It would be super dope to have an episode where y'all give "DVD-ish commentary" From some of your most popular YouTube videos. Answering questions like -why this song was chosen -why this video was shoot at this location -why this color scheme or outfits were picked out -why these dancers were part of the shoot Like imagine your favorite movie and try to ask questions you'd want answered. Because your videos encompass so many layers.

Amazing Podcast Kinjaz! Great podcast for dancers or anyone wanting to hear the stories and life lessons from their favorite dancers. Each episode gets better and better. It would be dope if you guys can interview Phillip “ Pac-Man” Chbeeb. I would love to hear to his dance journey 🤙🏼 #flames

    Silly yet philosophical 🧐
I love the authenticity of this podcast. It’s the literal definition of DGAF and throughout each episode, you get these nuggets that you don’t often hear or said in a different perspective. Shoutout to that Pokémon (E001) & Bruce Lee (E003) analogy! I had to sit on those thoughts for a sec as it applies to so many things in life. And to VIBE 2010 - I remember watching y’all on stage and I was 100% a part of that standing ovation. It’s still mind blowing how much it has evolved since then. If I could say one thing to improve this podcast - it would be to try to reduce saying “like” all the time. ;) good luck & keep it up!

    My son loves KINJAS
I went through this whole episode Mike Song & Anthony Lee. You guys never got to the core questions. I want to hear how the crew was put together. Who was first? How do you scout/recruit? How do you put together a routine? How many hours/counts? Are there captains to each sequence? How are you guys recruiting the best of what's out Tony Tran? So many questions.

    Thoughtful, Funny, Informative, Inspirational
Great podcast guys! Wow growing up in the community, it’s been awesome to hear about the history and individuals experiences especially in relation to the industry. Ya’ll make my car rides wonderful.

    I love them
I love their dancing and I them even more as people. I’ve always respected the kinjaz but to hear everything they have to say and what they want to bring to the table makes me smile. I love their witty banter when they are together. Full on binge listening to these episodes. My only wish is for more of their banter that makes them laugh. It’s my favorite part.
  • Jinx 1.5
    Keep 'em coming
So I knew the podcast would be good. Why? Because anytime these guys get together to put out content or to perform, or whatever they have designs to do...the work is practically flawless. That said, I was blown away by the honesty and the words of wisdom and encouragement that came through my speaker. It's so easy to hide oneself while recording a podcast. The audience doesn't have the luxury to read body language, however, there was an inherent honesty in the words each member spoke. No lie, that Pokemon analysis was classic and definitely one that will stay with me. To be honest, all of the podcasts released thus far will stay with me. As a fan who never really gets to hear Mike Fal speak, as a fan who has listened to past podcasts in frustration because I wanted the speakers to be able to finish a thought, this podcast exceeded any expectation I may have had. I love the natural flow of the conversation, the rhythm the speakers fall into effortlessly. I binged all three episodes like a new Netflix series. #Podcastandchill anyone? Everything about this podcast is great. The conversation, the topics, the jokes, the commardarie we can hear between all of the speakers. It is everything a podcast should be. I will be listening and relistening to episodes for sure. Well done!! -Fan For Life

    Entertaining and insightful
Whether they're delving into deep analysis about the dance world or straight choppin it up about who would play them in a movie, these guys are entertaining and authentic. Glad they're providing a much needed voice for their community in a new medium.
